Walsh, McMahon make FX pilot cut
Jan. 09, 2003
Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon have been tapped to star in FX's one-hour pilot from Ryan Murphy, "Nip/Tuck," which centers on two South Florida plastic surgeons. Walsh and McMahon will play best friends and longtime business partners on the verge of a major expansion of their practice when McMahon's character, who has become emotionally estranged from his wife, goes out on his own to do pro bono surgery on burn victims. The pilot from Shephard/Robin Prods. is scheduled to begin production this month in Los Angeles. Earlier this season, Walsh did multiepisode guest arcs on the WB Network's "Everwood" and CBS' "Presidio Med." His recent credits also include the CBS pilot "Jo" and the features "Blood Work" and "We Were Soldiers." Walsh is repped by UTA. For the past three years, McMahon has starred on "Charmed" as Phoebe's (Alyssa Milano) devilish ex-husband, Cole. He has recently left the WB drama; his last episode is set to air this month. McMahon, whose credits also include the NBC series "Profiler," is repped by Innovative Artists.
[Variety.com]:
FX will tackle the world of plastic surgeons with the pilot "Nip/Tuck," from scribe Ryan Murphy ("Popular"). Project, from Shephard/Robin Prods., follows the lives of two Miami-based doctors who are best friends but have a decidedly different outlook on their job and their lives. Both are at a point of crisis in their lives: One is stuck in an increasingly loveless marriage, along with a cynical son, while the other -- a brash, single man who frequently beds prospective patients -- can't understand his partner's emotional angst.
